The Higher Education system plays an important role in developing human resources of any nation. The System of Higher Education in India has seen significant growth and progress during the post independence era. This period witnessed massive expansion of the overall education system. The success of the education system largely ... depends upon development of the human resources involved in it. Considering this the UGC has started and periodically strengthens the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre in the country. The Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre of Savitribai Phule Pune University established in 1987 has always been one of the leading Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre in the country. I am proud to mention that this Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre has taken the task of designing and organizing the programmes as a mission and has been doing it seriously rigorously. The UGC-MMTTC, SPPU so far has conducted 573 Refresher courses (covering 18916 teacher participants) 184 orientation programs (covering 6717 teacher participants), 17 Special Summer/Winter Schools (covering 964 teacher participants), 28 Faculty Development Programmes (covering 1074 teacher participants), 16 Professional Development progrmmes (covering 433 participants), 2 Ph.D. Post Doctoral programmes (covering 52 participants) and 23 Principal/Academic Administrators Workshops (covering 4127 participants). The MHRD has also sanctioned as Faculty Development Centre to Savitribai Phule Pune University which is looked after by the MMTTC and in the year 2018-2019 Faculty Development Centre has conducted 86 Faculty Development Programmes (covering 6299 participants), 6 Refresher Programmes (covering 319 participants) and 14 workshops (covering 1387 participants). I am sure that under the able leadership of present Director, Prof. Subhash Kendre the MMTTC and FDC will continue to provide opportunities for personal and professional development to the human resources in Higher Education system. Teacher training in the higher education system is very crucial. It promotes teachers to enhance their teaching skills and familiarizes them to learn or create new and varied teaching strategies. These training courses are vital for teachers to equip themselves with all the necessary competencies to cater optimally in the progress of the learner.
Since its establishment, UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre of Savitribai Phule Pune University is well-known for its wide range of attributes in the organization of such teacher training programs.
